The name is an acronym that stands for the region’s four provinces and one highly urbanized city (South CotabatoSultan KudaratSarangani and General Santos). The regional center is in Koronadal located in the province of South Cotabato, and the center of commerce and industry is General Santos, which is the most populous city in the region.

In 2018, Socsksargen USA Inc. was officially established. What was once a simple gathering of “kababayans” (folks originated from same place) from Southern tip of Philippine Island gave rise to an organization whose members were bounded by common ideals of cooperation, unity amidst diversity, equality, and the strive for excellence. The love in our hearts for our heritage and uphold the value of our traditions are our inspirations in sharing to the world the richness and beauty of our colorful culture.

With hard work, dedication, generosity of our members and guidance from our elder leaders, we are proud to share some of our relevant accomplishments. The planning and coordination with local General Santos City Tourism for our initial project with  Arise Mindanao proponents, Dalsaka Foundationwhich stands for Dalan sa Kalambuan (Road to Progress) Mindanao, gave way to the birthing process of the Sisterhood between General Santos City and Jersey City. Kudos to Darlene Borromeo and Cora Tito (former General Santos City tourism Officer), the Jersey  City Officials led by Mayor Fulop and then Council President Rolando Lavarro for Jersey City and the officials of General Santos City led by then Vice Mayor Shirlyn Banas .

The upcoming projects are: to network with other Mindanao regional organizations and push for an umbrella organization for Mindanao. In 2022, International Convention with Business Matching components and promotion of culture and arts; collaborate with Jersey City for a bigger celebration, festive ambience for  next year’s Tuna Festival in celebration of  Sisterhood and foundation anniversary;  cultural exhibit and presentation in New York City.
