JCAST IS NOW PART OF ART WEEK!

The Jersey City Art and Studio Tour (JCAST) in its 33rd year moves under the umbrella of Art Fair 14C and becomes part of a larger Jersey City Art Week in October 2023.

JCAST began as an invitation to visit artists’ studios, retailers and other downtown spaces, including the historic 111 First Street art collective and has been re-imagined several times over the ensuing decades.

The original artist studio tour was started in 1990 by Charles Kessler and Pat Donnelly of Gold Coast Magazine (a Jersey Journal weekly).

From 1994 to 2013 it was presented by nonprofit Pro Arts, a professional artist membership organization, in partnership with the City of Jersey City, and then the City’s Office of Cultural Affairs took over sole operations from 2014 through 2022.

In 2023 JCAST will become part of a larger Jersey City Art Week, which will also include the 5th Edition of Art Fair 14C and the 31st International Sculpture Center Conference.

The Jersey City Art and Studio Tour (JCAST) was developed from an event rooted in artists’ studios, retailers and other downtown spaces, including the historic 111 First Street art collective, into the City’s premier cultural event. For nearly three decades, the tour has attracted thousands of art aficionados from New York, New Jersey and beyond to tour hundreds of art and performance spaces.

During these challenging times art is more important than ever. Art has the power to transport us to new places, challenge our assumptions and transform our perception of the world.

We are therefore, going to bring the art to you!

4 days full of gallery exhibitions, talks, demonstrations and performances experienced from the comfort of your own home.

“Every year we are broadening the scope of JCAST to incorporate more and more new and upcoming artists, and as we go virtual for the first time this year, we have even more exciting art and events planned to mark our 30th anniversary. JCAST highlights Jersey City’s dynamic city culture by showcasing our unparalleled arts community and the incredibly talented artists who live and work here. The annual event always draws thousands of people from near and far, and I anticipate even more participation this year as we invite everyone to virtually experience our expansive gallery in a safe and comfortable way.”
