Mural Arts Program

From the Heights, to Greenville, to Downtown, to the West Side, to Bergen Lafayette and Journal Square, Jersey City’s cultural scene continues to expand and diversify.

Initiated in 2013 and funded by a Clean Communities Grant, the Jersey City Mural Arts Program links established and emerging local, national and international mural artists with property owners citywide as part of an innovative beautification program that reduces graffiti, engages local residents and transforms Jersey City into an outdoor art gallery.

Each year JCMAP offers artistically inclined Jersey City youth an opportunity to apply their skills towards the creation of public art in various locations around Jersey City. Youth are led by professional mural artists where they are given step-by-step instruction on public art techniques, including concept development, design enlargement and coherence, and spray paint techniques.
