Brooklyn Jazz Underground: David Cook Quintet Plays Scenic Design

Produced by Ben Wendel of Kneebody, Scenic Design features David Smith on trumpet, Ben Wendel on saxophone, Matt Clohesy on bass, and Kendrick Scott on drums. When writing Scenic Design, David Cook aimed to spread the melodies past the piano, enlisting the performers on the record to create a collective sound. Cook and his quintet play selections from Scenic Design and more. The concert includes two intermissions and complimentary drinks.

This event is part of a season of concerts curated by Brooklyn Jazz Underground, a record company and collective built around empowering musicians.

DAVID COOK
Pianist, composer, and musical director David Cook is a New York-based musician. Cook has collaborated with notable artists including Halsey, Utada Hikaru, Jennifer Hudson, Kesha, Ben Platt, Billy Porter, Thomas Rhett, and Taylor Swift. Cook is on the faculty at Montclair State University as an adjunct professor of jazz. He also teaches piano, production, and musical direction at 92Y. In 2008 and 2017, Cook represented the US through Jazz at Lincoln Center and the State Department, traveling to Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait to give performances and clinics.
