Berry Lane Park Concert Series: Carmen Rodgers + Zo!

August 1, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The City of Jersey City, Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council and the Office of Cultural Affairs are excited to welcome back the Berry Lane Park concert series.

Part of the larger Summer in the City series, the Berry Lane Park series takes place in Berry Lane Park during the months of July and August. The Office of Cultural Affairs, in conjunction with the Friends of Berry Lane Park have curated this series to enrich the park with live music throughout the summer.

Today’s performance: Carmen Rodgers + Zo! (Neo Soul)

About the Band:

Introducing Carmen Rodgers & Zo!. Two separate artists who come together LIVE on the same stage, at the same time to perform songs from each other’s vast discographies. Enter the stage, Carmen Rodgers + Zo!. Their individual projects combined total more than 10, several hitting the Billboard charts at one time or another, but who still fly under-the-radar, stealthily dishing solid servings of soul food for a seemingly starved scene. But folks who are steeped in the underground scene, fans of them individually or as members of “The Foreign Exchange” crew especially, have already set their Spotify/Pandora stations accordingly, having seen Zo! and Carmen touring successfully.

On stage, Carmen Rodgers delivers sweet, sultry & smoky vocals, with a hint of Texas grit and southern daint, as only a native Dallas gal can.  And Zo! brings it all together, showcasing his musical visions on keyboards (and sometimes bass guitar), with an audience rapport as easy-going as his smile. Together, they present tunes from all of their projects including their newest releases “Stargazer” and “Skybreak”, and more! Yes, good R&B/Soul music is still being made; Zo! + Carmen Rodgers are a big part of that movement. No, there will be no auto-tune, Pro-tools or shiny suits. Just that good soul that will get the people feeling, moving and grooving.
