Free

The City of Jersey City, Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Municipal Council and the Office of Cultural Affairs are excited to welcome back the SummerFest concert series.

SummerFest is a concert series that takes place every Tuesday and Sunday in Liberty State Park during the months of July and August. Part of the larger Summer in the City series, the Office of Cultural Affairs hand selects musical groups ranging in flavor, from Motown, Jazz, Blues, Vintage and Classic Rock, Country, Cuban Dance, Funk and R&B.

Today’s performance: 3D Rhythm of Life (Latin, Tropical, Soul)

About the Band:

3D Rhythm of Life  LATIN-TROPICAL-SOUL. Michael Tate, drummer and bandleader for the group 3D Rhythm of Life, continues his journey by merging the sounds of Latin, Rhythm & Blues, Reggae and the flavors of the Caribbean, creating what he calls, “Latin-Tropical-Soul”.

The story of 3D Rhythm of Life is one of evolution with respect for the past, the present, and a projection into the future. Michael Tate’s experience playing with the renowned international music group, Kid Creole and the Coconuts—whose fans included (Michael Jackson and Prince), provided an excellent opportunity to perform and appreciate many styles such as Funk, Disco, Latin Tropical, Island and Big Band Swing.

Multicultural and bilingual, this accomplished ensemble from New York City has been recording and performing as a collective well for over a decade. “3D is the acronym for Diverse, Dynamic and Danceable, the band’s signature sound.

The group’s members have also shared stages with an array of musical luminaries. Co-founder and guitarist, Chris Amelar is a William Paterson University graduate, and a well-respected teacher and author. Keyboardist, Lenny Underwood, has recorded and performed with chart-topping artists such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Chaka Khan.
