Moroccan Flag Raising

November 18, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 11:30 am

The Flyer has the Moroccan Flag as a background. The red background on the Moroccan flag represents hardiness, bravery, strength and valour, while the green represents love, joy, wisdom, peace and hope; it also represents the color of Islam and the pentagram represents the seal of Solomon. The five branches also represent the pillars of Islam

The City of Jersey City, Mayor Steven M Fulop, the Municipal Council Members and Office of Cultural Affairs were proud to recognize and honor the Moroccan American Recreational and Organizational Council and the Moroccan-American community as we celebrate the 64th Anniversary of the Independence of the Kingdom of Morocco during the Flag Raising Ceremony held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. The Star-Spangled Banner national anthem was played followed by Morocco’s national anthem.

The Moroccan American Recreational and Organizational Council NJ (MAROC) is a non-profit organization based in the State of New Jersey that works to provide administrative and recreational services to the Moroccan American community. Its mission is to build and sustain a strong network of Moroccan American families and professionals through promoting and supporting higher education, addressing the needs of the Moroccan American Community, and helping new Moroccan immigrants transition into the American society.

The contributions of Moroccan-Americans in the fields of education, politics, religion, culture, science, industry and business have helped shape this great city and the history of the United States.  These accomplishments have unquestionably been an important asset to Jersey City and to our nation’s growth and cultural development over the centuries.
