World Cancer Awareness Flag Raising 2025

February 6 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

World Cancer Day is an international day recognized on the 4th of February every year to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008. The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer and is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. This day is observed by the United Nations.

In 2021, Glamming The Warrior campaign was created in Jersey City.  An initiative that aims to tackle these findings head-on and challenge the psychological cost attributed to a cancer diagnosis and its subsequent treatments.  In collaboration with several other local businesses in Jersey City and the surrounding areas, Glamming The Warrior offers an annual Wellness Makeover Giveaway with the aim of re-instilling these cancer warriors’ feeling of self-confidence and improving their quality of life and their treatment’s effectiveness.

Mayor Steven Fulop of the City of Jersey City and The City Council recognizes on Thursday, February 6, 2025, as World Cancer Day, during our Flag Raising Ceremony, and urge all our residents to publicly reaffirm our City’s strong and continuing commitment to raising awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.
